Newport Beach Getaway

As soon as we got home from California last month we knew we wanted to go back as soon as we could. So we talked about it off and on then finally just decided to book it and go, best decision ever, it was just what we needed! We have both been working on a bunch of different things, trying to hit some personal, family and work goals and it was so amazing to just be together by ourselves without to-do lists. I really love being with my little crew, they make me so happy and so does the beach! If you live in Utah, you can get super inexpensive flights to Long Beach on Jet Blue or Delta so with a baby who really hates the car these have become our best friend! We rented a little car that we all barely fit in because it saved like $15 a day which is another couple Acai or Pitaya bowls! :) We only took one bag and packed super minimal, well as little as you can with a baby and you bet I still brought my essential oils and diffusers!

Seeing my boys, all three of them SO happy at the beach is why we keep going back! If I could just freeze those times I would in a heartbeat. One night we went to Laguna Beach, the parking is crazy there so we took a small local beach access road and relaxed with a bunch of locals and watched the little kids surf while the sun went down then grabbed the best ice cream and my heart was super full. That night was my very favorite, it was so so good.

We stayed at the Marriott Newport Coast Villas and if you have kids this is such an amazing place to stay. They have multiple rooms and bathrooms with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, lots of pools, playgrounds and so kid friendly. The sleeping situation at a normal hotel with young kids can be tricky so this worked out so well for us and both boys slept all night both nights there which is kind of a miracle away from home! I loved the location as well, it was right on the Pacific Coast Highway so you can easily access Huntington, Newport and Laguna easily. The food, atmosphere and easy beach access has made Huntington our favorite, then Laguna then Newport. I think we could stay two full weeks just to eat at all the yummy food places in the area. Carl and I were listing all the ones we wanted to go to and we decided if we shared meals then we could eat more often and make our rounds more quickly to fit it all in! Anyone else kinda plan their vacations around meals? :)

I've had a lot of questions asking about swimsuits, favorite things to do and places to eat so I decided to just break it all down and write it out here so you can come back and check it when you need and it saves me time as well!

5 top places to eat:

1. Bruxie in Huntington - Probably my favorite place, I get the Turkey Bacon Pesto sandwich and Carl loves the chicken and waffle sandwich. I'm already craving one again... anyone in Utah wanting to open a restaurant?? I'm only half joking...

2. Summerhouse in Newport - Atmosphere and the food here are tied with Bruxie, such an amazing place!

3. Bonzai Bowls - Best Acai and Pitaya bowls. Just a tip... the line gets crazy so call ahead or go at off times like between meals.

4. Sessions - such great sandwiches, if you get the "Yogi" tell them light on the pesto, other than that super good!

5. Bruegger's Bagels - yummy breakfast place, great for kids, super fresh bagels!
